MES 5210 Challenge

SCHOOLS ON THE MOVE 5210 CHALLENGE

“Schools on the Move Challenge” is an annual program sponsored by Healthy Kids Club, UCHealth.  The program encourages kids and families to actively engage in 5210 health habits daily.  The goal is to get 5 fruits and vegetables, 2 hours or less of recreational screen time, 1 hour or more of physical activity, and drink 0 sugary drinks everyday.

Students, family members, and staff who turn in a signed log with at least 60 check marks of a possible 116 will receive a T-Shirt.  Student logs require a parent signature.  The top five schools with the highest percentage of participants will be awarded $1500, $1000, $750, $500, and $250 respectively to spend on physical education equipment and school wellness. Last year Mead Elementary finished 6th, one spot out of the money was approximately 50% of our students who turned in completed logs.  To increase our percentage of participants we are providing extra incentives in addition to the free T-Shirt.  Students who turn in completed logs with parent signature will receive Peyton Manning trading cards or a rubber wrist band.  Those students will also be entered into a drawing for Yo-Yo’s from our NED Show assembly.   Parents and family members 3 years old and older may also participate in the challenge to earn a T-Shirt.  Parent/family logs are only available online at healthykidsclub.org.  The challenge runs February 1st – February 29th.  Students will receive a calendar to track their healthy choices on Thursday, January 28th.  Parent signed logs must be turned into the office or Mr. Sagel by Friday, March 4, 2016
